A peek into German past! This racetrack sculpture depicts the layout of Automobil-Verkehrs- und Übungsstraße ('Automobile traffic and training road'), also known as AVUS, is a public road in Berlin, Germany. Opened in 1921, it was used as a motor racing circuit until 1998. Today the AVUS forms the northern part of the Bundesautobahn 115. The Avus ran 8.3 km in length with 4 turns. Major events under its belt: 1926 German Grand Prix, 1959 German Grand Prix, ETCC ('63-'88), Formula 3, DTM, DRM, Interserie, Group C. After the Berlin wall fall, the closure of the AVUS racetrack for race events became more and more problematic for traffic-related concerns so it finally met its closure in 1998.
